George Downey – The Dean of Reverse Mortgage

This podcast welcomes the Dean of Reverse Mortgage George Downey. George helps dispel the many misconceptions and myths about Reverse Mortgages.

George is a Past Director of the board of the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association – succeeded by his son and business partner Chris Downey.

Previously, George served thirteen years on the board of the MA Mortgage Association; an education member of the MA Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; and, continues actively promoting legislative reform for MA senior homeowners.
Additionally, he has authored numerous articles on senior financing and related issues; and, is a frequent guest speaker on radio shows and public forums promoting senior education and best practices for reverse mortgages and retirement planning.
George is articulate and ethical and starts prospect conversations by underscoring “The first rule is to do the right thing for the client. The second rule is the same.” That means that a “reverse” is NOT always the solution.
