More than 12 percent of the American population is over the age of 65 and an estimated 1.5 million of these Americans will move into new residences this year. Whether you’re moving to a retirement community or an assisted living facility, or downsizing to a space more suitable for your new lifestyle, the process can be stressful and emotionally draining.

How are moving companies helping make this transition? Our guest in this episode is Mark Silverman of Marks Moving (https://marksmoving.com/). Mark offers kid-glove service moving and storage service to seniors and the sandwich generation. In 1979, Mark was a student at Northeastern University, and while many college students were spending money on their social lives, he needed to spend my money on school. But first, he had to earn it. Eventually, the business became Mark’s sole focus. One Man and a Van became Mark’s Moving & Storage.

Nearly 46 years later, He is still looking for opportunities to help people. Mark also created Mark’s Northeastern Furniture Foundation and collects more than 12 trailer loads of lightly used and new goods each year, and works with Greater Boston non-profits to share that treasure with local families in need. In this episode, he talks about his journey and how he is helping seniors stay on the go.
